8:24 am
So I've been putting a lot of thought into my plan for this next year and mentally preparing myself to be ready to put school first again, even more so then I did last year! And I have to say I'm rather excited. I had the choice between either finishing up my BS in psych and starting the Social Work Master's program in fall of '09. Giving me about 9 months off to just work and hang out before I hit the books hard yet again. OR I could drop everything I'm in now and change everything to Social Work getting my BSW, and be able to start grads school at the same time minus the break... It is nice I have that option there. But after weighing the pro's and con's of both of them (and consulting with a few friends! <3), I'm choosing to continue in the psych program and go on to the Social Work Master's program. I'm excited to get schooling in both studies. Although they kind of over lap in the field of study aspect, their philosophies and practices are very different from one another. These plans may change, I really enjoy learning about personalities and I may end up wanting to continue with my psych masters... we'll see!

This summer I had a few goals set that I wanted to work on... one of the goals was to get volunteer experience. Finally today I am getting started on that... I've been really slacking with my goals but better late then never eh? I'm starting training at Neighbors Helping Neighbors. It's a group that helps the elderly stay in their own homes. They go in and help with everyday stuff that we take for granted now, and to just visit. I'm pretty excited about it! It's going to really help if I want to go into social work.

Now... I just need to work on actually getting to sleep at a good time and working out on a normal basis. Sleep has just become too boring to me! And because I don't sleep I end up not having the energy to work out... vicious cycles... /sigh.

11:53 am - My first time...
Hi, *looks down shyly* my name is Cathy, *looks around nervously* and I eat out *cringe with shame* I've been sober for 24 hours and it's been so hard... At first it started because I don't have a coffee maker and so the only way to get coffee is by going to places, then it grew... The Soup Kitchen, Noodles and Company... then Diners... And other sit down places. I use excuses like, "it's a way to hang out with my friends" But now... I just can't stop... if I can't get someone to go with me... I go by myself. It has been getting out of control, I used excuses like, "my kitchen is scary" or "The fridge smells funny" Which it does... but I could clean it out! I'm sick and I need help, and I know admitting it is the first step to recovery. Hopefully with the help of my sponser I can kick this habit and go back to a reasonable amount of spending... on food.

Really though, I've been spending soooo much money on food it's disgusting, That money could have gone a long way on other things like... fixing my car. It's ok though, I'm not sweating it, I just more or less need to watch my money better. I just... like not having to cook hehe >.>.

It's been awhile since I've posted and I'll be posting more about what I've been up to because I know I don't talk to a lot of you anymore. Sorry for that :( anyway. Of to Acting class!

4:08 pm - Mass Christmas Party Invitation!
I know it is short notice, but Amanda and I are going to throw a Christmas Party Saturday the 16th at 7 PM till whenever people feel like going home, and all of you on my LJ list are invited. Just bring something to eat, snack food or substantial, and if you would like to drink, bring something to share. There will be a white elephant for those who wish to participate, with a $5 spending limit (you can spend more at your own risk! :D). It will be way fun and I hope that you all can make it regardless of the short notice.

Happy Holidays!

P.S. Give me or Amanda a call if you need directions.

1:04 pm - It's been awhile
Life has been rather busy with the move then with finals and work. All things considered I think everything is working out ok aside from me now being addicted to caffiene haha. Which I will promptly be remedying now that finals are pretty much taken care of. I have one more test to take today then all I'll have to deal with is a paper, sadly my stomach is all in knots today. I hate it when I get sick to my stomach :(. Must be from all the coffee hehe... also Chai Spice creamer is my fav omg /drool.

Tah!

10:16 pm - Falling cages... watch out below!
So Sunday at work, I had a ferret starter kit w/ cage fall in my back. It is amazing how much hurting your back can effect the rest of your body... It isn't fun. I'll be going to the doctor tomorrow (on Petco's expense woo!). But yes... this weekend was less then fun, although it wasn't all bad. I got to watch the new bond movie and hang with the guys which I always enjoy!

1:59 pm - Do not make me run, I'm too full of chocolate.
So last night Amanda and I went to the Chocolate show at the Expo center... omg... so much chocolate. There were 20+ chocolate companies all with chocolate samples, everything from chocolate chai tea, to chocolate bar samples, to chocolate flavored make up/lotions. I also got a massage... It was chocolate heaven!

By the end of the night... just looking at a piece of chocolate made me sick, haha and me and Amanda suffered from a sugar coma on the drive home.

12:19 pm - Why I love my job.
1. Almost every single guy that I work with is a geek of some sort... and all of them play video games!
2. I love the environment and the people, I can connect on some level with almost everyone I work with, most of them are rather open, or they like video games, anime, Joss Whedon stuff. hehe we all joke and tease each other. Just an environment that I thrive in.
2. I love seeing dogs come into the store with their owners, it is fun helping new animal owners learn how to take care of their new animal.
3. I love how laid back it is and that this is the first job I've had where I didn't take home the dramas of work home with me.
4. I love working with my hands, it keeps me from being bored.
5. I love having a variety of different jobs I could do, stock, freight, customer service, cashier, open/close (take care of animals) in small animals, birds, aquatics, and reptils (my least favorite... spiders yucky), Mantenance around the store... again it keeps me from getting bored.
6. They are generally pretty flexible with my work schedule, with enough notice.
7. The music has a strange addictive/brainwashing quality to it... something about keep going when life gives you troubles thing. I think it is mostly so that the company can screw us over and we don't care because the music tells us not to haha.

So Wednesdays at Petco is our freight day which is why I never get out of working on wednesdays to watch Lost :(. But it is also my favorite day to work (as long as they let me work freight)! It is fun being stronger then I look so when I work the 40 lbs of dog food or answer carry out calls that other girls would turn to get a guy... and I just go and lift it up. Then I just get this look of bewilderment from the customer because generally I'm smaller then them and I'm carrying it with no problem... it is rather satisfying. Course I get the occasional customer (that is a man) that decides after seeing me that he can actually take it after all or they just request for a man... that kinda pisses me off. The other reason why I love working freight... is that it gives me a chance to talk to the guys about geekery, which is always fun. But really, I just like getting a work out without having to go to the gym. I'm completely sore today. /grin and I loves it!

12:05 am - I should never drink coffee again...
So I had a latte last night at like 7 o'clock lastnight, and I didn't get to sleep until 3 am. Not because I was worrying or anything, I was just wide awake. Then I had coffee at 1 pm, my heart was racing from 3 until 7 for the rest of the day and I was talking so fast and bouncing off the walks my co-workers couldn't stop laughing in my presence. It was amusing... but I don't much like feeling like I may kill over from a heart attack at any given moment... so no more coffee for me I think.

10:22 pm - I hate working at 7 am on a sunday...
But at least I'll be up in time to see the sun rise. It has been awhile since I've seen it (expect I got to see it today... and it was a pretty one), so that alone will be worth it. I don't know why they sceduled me so early, normally the earliest they schedule on a sunday is 8... I suppose I'll find out at 7!

Also, why is Grey's Anatomy so good?

7:26 pm - Copying Shade hehe
You scored as White. You are a White Were. A bit more virtuous than the Black, but less fun loving then the Red, Whites have an aura of intelect and purity. Too sympathetic if you ask me, but that's their choice. You value intelligents and kindness, and love praise from others.

12:42 am - Classes for next semester.
So I'm looking at my schedule and it turns out I'm going to be able to put all of my classes on Tuesday and Thursday with the exception of a lab on Monday. I was able to get all the classes that I wanted with the exception of Theory of Love, it ends up that isn't taught in the spring :(. So far I have the Gay/Lesbian Theater class, Acting 1, and Statistical Methods for Psych. But I need one more class to have a full schedule. I have 2 options that look interesting to me. Intro to social psych, this goes over impression formation, attitudes, persuasion, conformity, attraction, aggression, and altruistic behavior... So interesting! But it is a night class on thurs, I don't think I like the idea of my last class getting out at 9pm. Then there is Survey of Clinical psych, which just looks over theriputic theories and techniques, assessment of problems and professional roles. That is on tues and thurs as well, but if I chose that one I would be in class straight from 9:20 to 3:20 with out a break lol... I dunno if that is smart... We'll see what I decide! hehe

10:38 pm - Borat
Yeah... I have serious respect for Sacha Cohen as an artist. The movie was definately funny at parts, but I felt for a lot of the people that had to deal with him lol.

Today I woke up with my pinky and ring finger numb on my right hand :(. I'm beginning to get some feeling back into them. I know what the problem, because I've been to the doctor for it. But it is still annoying.

Nini folks! I hope you are all having super days!

12:02 am - phew, with 40 mins to spare...
I managed to finish my 2nd paper for my personality theory class with 40 mins to spare from the deadline.  This paper has been about the happiness stuff that I've been looking into lately.  It compares a guy who is successful and unhappy, and the same guy in an alternate universe who has cancer but is happy, from the perspective of three theorists.  The writing itself kinda sucks because I wrote it the last minute, but the content is interesting if anyone is interested in this sort of stuff.

Paper )

The content of what I had to put into this paper is rather timely for some life issues I've been going through lately and I've taken some of the stuff I've learned here to heart.  I hope you guys find it as helpful as me :D.

In other school news, I got some tests back, one from my personality theory class, I did better then the first test... which isn't saying much... But I'm getting good grades on the papers which do factor into your grade.  I'm hoping now that I'm getting to a point where I can handle some of the issues I've been facing recently I'll be more able to concentrate on studying instead of... ya know, worrying hehe.  Then the other class I got the test back from was Script Analysis, I got an A- on the test and the teacher allowed us to make up some quizes today... I had missed 4 out of the 10 we had taken in class.  Luckily I wasn't the only one that had missed alot.  I scored really well on all of the quizes which is good.

I still need to read a book in my tai-chi yoga class... 3 books actually, and prepare for the end of semester project.  I decided instead of preparing a song to sing, which requires the aid of someone that can play the piano, I'm going to prepare an old monologue instead (the class is a theater credit so we are allowed to do fun stuff for the project, woo).  It's my favorite monologue by Hermione from a Winter's Tale, it is from the scene where she is taken in front of her husband, the king, to be on trial and sentence to execution.  I loves it.

I need to get to registering for next semester soonish, so far I'm planning on retaking applied Stats, then I wanna take Psychology of Love (because I'm a crazed hopeless romantic when it comes down to it), and probably Gay and Lesbian theater because it knocks out 3 different requirements for one class.

10:09 pm - fun facts ftw
Once tagged by this entry, the assignment is to write a blog entry of some kind with six random facts about yourself. Then, pick six of your friends and tag them; no tag backs. This explanation should be included.

was tagged by: [info]zarigia

1. I broke my elbow when I was eight by falling off the arm of a chair I was pretend surfing on.

2. I haven't seen my favorite musical Wicked, but I could sing every song to you by heart.

3. The sound of a train going over tracks in the middle of the night is actually comforting to me.

4. My all time favorite sandwich is peanut butter and chocolate syrup with banana slices.

5. In grade school I ran a candy store out of my garage and I used all my own money for it.

6. One winter our roof actually caved in from all the snow fall. It was in our living room, I was asleep in my room at the time... as bad as that is, I remember thinking it was pretty cool.

I'm tagging... (I'm reusing people because we all have the same friends :P)

1:37 am - Fun with coffee at 10 PM
So this weekend, as much of you can tell, was hella fun. I like me drunk, as does a lot of other people I take it. And apparently I like calling people while drunk.

Anyway, so today I got to have my Tai chi yoga class. And I've decided that it is my favorite class. It helps calm me down a lot. Not only does it mix the arts of tai chi and yoga, but the teacher also teaches us Chi Kungs, which is a way to relax your body completely and it is a way to gather and reserve energy for a later date. And then he teaches us about different meditations and such. Needless to say, I leave the class feeling very calm no matter how wound up I am going into the class.

Along with the calm though, I also tend to get epiphanies. Today's epiphany was about what I'm wanting to do for my future. You see, for a very long time I was happy enough that I was even alive I didn't really have much thought for the future. But as of late I'm realizing that there are lots of things that I can do with this crazy thing called life. Although I do recall in hig hschool being asked if there was anything that I could do, money not being an option, what would I want to do? I wanted to help people therapeutically through theatre. I honestly had no idea how this could happen until today.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psychodrama

hehe I love the name... some people would say that it would describe me perfectly (self-burn ftw!) There are institutes all over the US and a few in Canada that I can get training at to practice this... of course it is a few years away still, but this is the first solid long term plan I've had for myself... like ever that involved more then just getting married and having babies.

If you are interested in more information about the practice here is the link to the society.

http://www.asgpp.org/

Also, I'm finally back into playing ffxi, I've been away for a few month trying to work out oa few things. We got to Static tonight and omg... I've missed my spt buddies! You are all so funny and crazy... I have to say it is insane how much one can change over a period of 2 months. The last time we were all together one guy was American, and now he's gone and made himself canadian... *head shake* I leave you alone for 2 months and you go all freaky on us *sigh* ;)
